An update from our Chief Medical Officer:

The CDC provides these simple ‘do it yourself’ instructions for making an appropriate personal mask. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/DIY-cloth-face-covering-instructions.pdf

The Surgeon General provides this YouTube video on how to make a simple cloth face covering. https://youtu.be/tPx1yqvJgf4

If any QDP employee or family member has the skill and desire to volunteer their time and efforts to make a stockpile of these ‘home-made’ masks, we would gladly accept them to distribute to our patients who may not have the ability to do so. QDP will reimburse you for the supply costs. This could be a fun project for children home-schooling. Please coordinate your efforts with your office manager who can also help redistribute stock to practices most in need.

Thank you in advance for any help with this directive and for always taking great care of our QualDerm patients.

Finally, I would like to make another QualDerm Public Service Announcement regarding social distancing. It’s been a long few weeks and I know from personal experience that ‘cabin fever’ is setting in. I would recommend that no one watch “The Shining” anytime soon. But my heartfelt plea is that everyone continues following the very important CDC, White House and local/state orders to practice social distancing and hand/cough hygiene at all times. This is critical to protect yourselves, your families, coworkers, patients and other vulnerable community members during this pandemic.

Sincerely,

John Albertini, MD
