SeaCoast Skin Surgery Joins QualDerm Partners

Partnership Further Expands QualDerm’s Network of High-Quality Dermatology Practices

BRENTWOOD, TN (April 1, 2022)

QualDerm Partners, a company that creates market-leading dermatology practice partnerships through affiliations and de novo development, today announced SeaCoast Skin Surgery has joined the company as an affiliate practice.

SeaCoast Skin Surgery, located in Wilmington, NC, is an outpatient skin surgical center. Greg Viehman, MD, a double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon, founded the practice in 2008. In addition to Dr. Viehman, the practice’s clinical staff includes Sarah Holt, PA-C. SeaCoast Skin Surgery provides high-quality skin cancer care and emphasizes patient education. The practice gives patients in the Wilmington area access to the most technologically advanced procedures available.

Dr. Viehman earned his medical degree from the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where he graduated first in his class. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. During his dermatology residency at Duke University Medical Center, Dr. Viehman served as Chief Resident. He then completed a Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Surgery fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. Prior to founding SeaCoast Skin Surgery, Dr. Viehman was the co-founder and medical director of a skin cancer center in Cary, NC. He has lectured nationally on dermatologic surgery, published numerous articles and authored a book on dermatologic differential diagnosis.

“At SeaCoast Skin Surgery, our mission has always been to deliver the highest quality care possible while meeting the patients’ individual needs for comfort and well-being,” says Dr. Viehman. “QualDerm’s dedication to quality and patient-centricity, as evident by the practices in their network, was the leading factor in my decision to partner.”

Upon its founding in 2015, North Carolina was the first market QualDerm entered through a partnership with The Skin Surgery Center. Today, the organization has a total of 60 practice locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Tennessee and Georgia, with plans to expand further.

Physician leadership and clinical autonomy are key elements of the QualDerm partnership model.  Clinical decisions are left to the physicians, who are not required to meet to quotas. This ensures patient care remains at the highest levels. Further, affiliated physicians hold positions on the board of directors, regional joint operation committees, the QualDerm Quality Council and various Quality Council subcommittees.

“SeaCoast Skin Surgery has earned an outstanding reputation for providing high-quality, compassionate skin cancer care,” says Bill Southwick, Chief Executive Officer of QualDerm. “We look to partner with physicians who share our vision to advance the practice of dermatology in a quality, patient-centric way. We’re eager to work with Dr. Viehman to grow his practice.”
