Dr. John G. Albertini has over 22 years of experience in clinical care, education, research and healthcare leadership at state and national levels. Albertini is a past president of the North Carolina Dermatology Association and the American College of Mohs Surgery and a volunteer associate professor at Wake Forest University Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Albertini is nationally renowned for expertise in Mohs surgery and advanced reconstructive surgery, having presented over 75 lectures worldwide and published more than 50 scientific articles and book chapters. Dr. Albertini has served as assistant editor of the Dermatologic Surgery journal and as guest editor for the Special Issue on Advanced Reconstruction in 2014. Dr. Albertini served as fellowship director of a training program in Mohs surgery and Procedural Dermatology from 2007-2013.
Dr. Albertini earned his MD from the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago, and a BA in English from the University of Notre Dame. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, a Residency in Dermatology and a Fellowship in Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery at Geisinger Medical Center. He served in the Air Force as Chief of Mohs Surgery at Lackland AFB prior to joining The Skin Surgery Center in NC in 2002, which then partnered with QualDerm in 2014. Dr. Albertini now serves on the Board of Managers and its Audit, Quality and Compliance Committee, and holds positions of Chief Medical Officer and Chair of the QDP Quality Council, Compliance Committee and Clinical Content Committee.
