QualDerm Expands its Network of Quality-driven Practices in Pennsylvania
BRENTWOOD, TN (January 31, 2020)
QualDerm Partners, a company that creates market-leading dermatology practice partnerships through affiliations and de novo development, today announced King-Maceyko Dermatology has joined the company’s network of affiliated physician-owned practices.
King-Maceyko Dermatology provides a wide-range of general dermatology services including the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. The Pennsylvania-based practice, which was founded in 1926, serves patients of all ages from its two office locations in Johnstown and Somerset. It is led by Andrew King, MD, a board-certified dermatologist who joined the practice in 1983. The clinical staff also includes Gary Risko, a certified Physician Assistant.
Dr. King earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He completed an internship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and his residency at the University of Michigan. While at the University of Michigan, Dr. King also did a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Cell and Molecular Dermatology.
“QualDerm has a reputation for partnering with high-caliber practices. Their commitment to quality and physician autonomy perfectly aligns with King-Maceyko Dermatology’s culture,” says Dr. King. “We’re excited to work together with QualDerm to expand access to high-quality dermatological care throughout Pennsylvania.”
In 2018, QualDerm first entered the Pennsylvania market by partnering with Zitelli & Brodland, P.C. That practice, founded by John Zitelli, MD, and David Brodland, MD, provides state-of-the-art skin cancer and surgical dermatology care and is recognized nationwide for its Mohs surgical Fellowship training program. QualDerm has a total of 42 practice locations in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Ohio and Georgia, with plans to expand further this year.
QualDerm’s partnership model gives dermatology practices access to management support, guidance and capital for growth while the physicians maintain clinical autonomy. The company’s practice management structure is organized into Regional Joint Operating Committees whose membership is made up of both physicians and business professionals. This structure allows practice management decisions to be made based on local market needs and conditions.
“We’re honored that Dr. King chose to affiliate with QualDerm,” says Bill Southwick, Chief Executive Officer of QualDerm. “Over the years, King-Maceyko Dermatology has earned patients’ trust for providing high-quality care. I’m confident Dr. King’s expertise will be a benefit to the entire QualDerm network.”
